Guidelines for Ballot Measures
Klickitat County EMS District #1 recently adopted Resolution No. 2024-02 providing for the submission to the voters on November 5, 2024, a proposition authorizing the District to continue its six-year EMS levy at a rate of $.50 per thousand of assessed valuation for collection beginning in 2025. The District is accepting names of people interested in participating in voter pamphlet statement pro and con committees for ballot measure.
Citizens interested in participating, please call 509-767-7054 by August 1, 2024. Appointments must be submitted to the County by August 6, 2024.

KCEMS is the primary ambulance service in Klickitat County, WA. KCEMS staffs three full-time ALS ambulance in Klickitat County, with additional support from local Volunteer Fire Departments, Law Enforcement and Search and Rescue. Klickitat County is a rural community with 22,000 residents residing in remote areas. Encompassing 1,904 square miles, we have extended transport times and extensive protocols allowing us to make critical decisions in patient care and treatment. Klickitat County is also located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge that offers world class recreational opportunities including white water rafting and kayaking, mountain biking, fishing, windsurfing, kite boarding, foiling, skiing, camping, climbing and so much more!

Responsibilities:
- Administer proper care in a rural environment while working with progressive Paramedic protocols.
- Utilize your Paramedic skills on medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, ventilator, oxygen and suction devices, and intravenous fluids to provide advanced medical care
- Communicate with patients and loved ones to provide information and assurance that care is being given.
- Act as Paramedic team leader and take responsibility for the scene and unit management as needed.
- Drive the ambulance on 911 responses.
- Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow coworkers.
- Assist with daily duties and keeping the station and ambulance clean and organized.
- Maintain clinical proficiency and competency per regulatory and accreditation compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- WA State Paramedic Liscense or ability to obtain
- State Driver’s License
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, CPR
- Clean driving record
